Aug 31, 2010

It's hard to believe that today is the last day of August. Where did the summer go? After weeks of soaring hot temperatures, the last few days have been relatively cool in Atlanta (upper 80s). I decided to celebrate by wearing one of my favorite shirt dresses. This blue and white shirt dress is from BCBGMAXAZRIA and ties in the front. I paired the dress with my white Marc by Marc Jacobs sandals. George wanted to see what his momma was up to this morning while I was taking the picture, so I decided to just let him in on the action. He is wearing a fur coat by George Arnett.

Aug 30, 2010

Sorry for the late posting today. I had a very hectic day, and even though it's already 7:45 p.m. on the East Coast, I still have a lot of work left to do tonight. At least I get to do my work from home with my George by my side.

Today I wore a Laundry by Shelli Segal one-piece belted dress with my L.A.M.B Veena heeled sandals. I love this dress for some of its little details, like the exposed zipper in the back. It's a very professional looking dress for a career woman, and my little sister Laura has said I look very "business woman" in it. I could not find the exact dress online, but here is a similar Laundry by Shelli Segal dress in black from 6pm.com.

The mushroom color of the dress and shoes is one I love and am starting to see more of in the stores. It's sort of a combination of brown and gray. I unfortunately don't have a purse in this color (hint, hint, Chapin), so I paired the ensemble with my blue patent purse from Charles David.

Saturday Night at Nino's

Chapin and I had dinner out this weekend at one of our favorite Italian restaurants: Nino's. We have been going to this restaurant for about 10 years now, and Chapin actually almost proposed to me there. We always have such wonderful meals when we head to Nino's!

Here is a picture of us before we left for dinner. I am wearing a BCBGMAXAZRIA dress with flat Marc by Marc Jacobs sandals. You can see how short I really am when I wear flats - especially when I stand next to my husband.

New URL for My Blog

Chapin and I have been doing some research regarding the URL for my blog, and we finally found one we both like: www.everydayfashionista.com. You can now view my blog on this URL!

Let me know what you think of my blog's new home.

Aug 27, 2010

It's Friday and Day 10 of the Fashion Challenge. Today I'm wearing a more casual dress, since I have no client meetings - just a bunch of conference calls. I am meeting a friend for lunch, so I wanted to be casual, chic and comfortable at the same time. Hopefully this outfit achieves all that!

I am wearing:

-Theory navy striped dress

-Charles David Forward navy shoes with red accents

*I could not find them online in this color, but here is a pair on eBay.

-Red Nine West patent leather purse

Chapin is coaching me on these poses, so hopefully I don't look too cheesy. Apparently all the celebrity pictures you see feature about 4-5 standard poses, including: both arms on hips, one arm on the hip, one leg crossed, etc. It's been very interesting learning all these techniques, although Chapin may be enjoying the research a little too much. :)

It's already Day 9 of the Fashion Challenge! Here I am wearing today's outfit:

-A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz gray and black ruffle dress

I bought this dress last year sometime, so I could not find it online. However, 6pm.com has this A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz dress in another color. (6pm.com is a discount clothing, shoe and accessories site that Zappos owns.)

-Betsey Johnson Lavant black suede sandals with red accents, which are still available online at 6pm.com and other stores.

-Betsey Johnson black satchel purse

Aug 25, 2010

Today is Day 8 of the Fashion Challenge. Even though the temperature in Atlanta is not supposed to reach the 90s today, in my office, the air conditioning is not working, so we are all hot, irritable and sweaty. What a day! A few weeks ago the air conditioning wasn't working at home, and now it's not working at my office. Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow.

Today I am wearing a white Cynthia Steffe dress that features a zipper running up the side, as well as L.A.M.B Veena Sandals.

If you like the L.A.M.B. brand, it is featured today on IDEELI, a discount site. You have to have an invite to join: www.ideeli.com/invite/mseashellf. This type of discount site, along with GILT, Rue La La, Haute Look and others, is becoming more and more popular. IDEELI has limited inventory, so the faster you act, the better.

Here is a picture we took tonight after Chapin gave me lessons on how to stand correctly for these types of photos.
I look quite tan in the picture, but I don't think I am this dark in real life. I think it's the poor lighting in the loft combined with the stark white of the dress.

I have never worn these shoes with this dress before, so let me know what you think.

Aug 24, 2010

Today is Day 7 in the Fashion Challenge, and here's what I'm wearing today:

-Juicy Couture grey belted embroidered dress
*I could not find a picture of the exact dress online, but here is the dress in black

-Stuart Weitzman Lowkey cherry red patent open toe flats (picture on the right)

Many people have been asking some questions about the challenge, so I wanted to lay down some "rules":

-The clothing must all be "never worn" during the challenge to count as a different outfit. That means I can't wear the same pants with five different shirts and have that count as five different outfits.

-Shoes don't count as part of the challenge. I know I only have about 50 or 60 pairs of shoes. I think I have a lot more dresses and outfits than that.

-No shopping during the challenge. I will not add any work clothes to my wardrobe during the challenge time frame. However, I can still buy cocktail dresses and shoes and purses... oh my!

I'm going to get a small tripod so I can take a photo each morning to document each outfit. I would have Chapin take the photo before we leave for work, but he leaves about an hour before me, so that's not really an option.

Since skin care and beauty are also part of my blog name, I thought I would mention the eye shadow I'm wearing: NARS. I am a new follower of NARS beauty products. I love their blush in Orgasm and their eye shadows.

-NARS Orgasm Blush

-NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Brumes

One last thing: Today is the 24th, which means my little Izzie passed away exactly seven months ago today. I loved Izzie so much, and I miss her everyday. Here is our family in 2007:

Challenge

After repeatedly watching Julie and Julia - where a blogger turns her experience of cooking every recipe out of Julia Child's cookbook into a real book - my husband has presented me with a similar challenge:

How many days can you go without wearing the same outfit twice?

It's something I have actually wondered myself in the past few months, especially with some of my marketing team members trying to guess how many dresses I own (hello, Kate and Natalie). I've become a little bit obsessed with fashion in the past few years, maybe because, back in high school, I had exactly enough outfits to get me through one week, and then I would have to start all over again. It was not fun.

So, here goes.

I also wanted to post a picture of me in the BCBG dress from this past weekend. We both got a lot of compliments on how nice we looked!

Aug 23, 2010

With no meetings today, I am dressed down (for me). I am wearing a royal blue shirt dress from I.N.C., a Macy's brand. I got this dress for 70% off, and always get so many compliments on it. I've had it for years. It's my go-to dress when I want to be comfortable at work.

I paired the dress with my Stuart Weitzman Conchita flats in beige. Here is a link to them in black:

Here is a picture of me wearing the dress in Prague in 2008. We did a lot of walking around on that trip, so I am wearing my white Sketchers. Another person on our grad school trip made fun of me for wearing "old lady shoes," but hey, I was comfortable.

Aug 20, 2010

It's Friday! I have a ton of meetings today, so unfortunately, I can't dress down. I am wearing one of my favorite career/ professional dresses:

-Grey zipper dress by Chequer, which I believe is an internal brand at Bloomingdale's, one of my favorite stores. I think you can still buy this dress online, though they have limited sizes:

http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=467281&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results

-The black Nine West shoes my wonderful sister-in-law gave me for my birthday this year. They have very high heels, but are (strangely) quite comfortable.

-Red patent leather Nine West purse. I love pairing red with black and gray, because red adds that wonderful pop of color. I'm wearing my ruby/diamond earrings as well.

Tomorrow we are headed to Birmingham for a wedding, where I will be wearing this dress with my L.A.M.B. heels:

Remember: Amazon for shoes!

I'm very excited!

Aug 19, 2010

Today I am wearing another BCBGMAXAZRIA dress. Most of my wardrobe is probably by BCBG. The designs are great for any career woman who wants to look fashionable and professional at the same time.

I bought this dress awhile ago, but you can still buy it at the official BCBG.com site. Here is the link: http://www.bcbg.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3906192&cp=4213681.2939729.4015528&view=all&parentPage=family

The description reads:

Be fashion-forward with this edgy embroidered contrast dress.
  • Round neck. Cap sleeves. Embroidered pattern at front bodice.
  • Contrast skirt with slight pleating. Side slash pockets. Back center zipper with hook-and-eye closure.
I am wearing it with my Charles David beige shoes and my blue patent Charles David purse. Happy Thursday!

I know I'm late posting, but I did want to mention what I wore yesterday. I had a million meetings, so I wanted to be comfortable, yet look professional. The answer: Rebecca Taylor. I am a big fan of her designs because they are girlie, professional and chic all at the same time, and can effortlessly go from day to night. Some of my favorite dresses are by Rebecca Taylor.

The outfit yesterday:
-Rebecca Taylor mock two-piece dress dress. (I love these types of dresses... They are one-piece dresses that seem like two pieces.) The top is white with puff sleeves and a black lace overlay. The bottom is a dark pinstripe. It is just the cutest thing!

-Shoes: Black suede Modern Vintage T-Strap Heels

-Purse: Betsey Johnson black satchel

Aug 17, 2010

Today I am wearing my brown Cynthia Steffe dress. It has a low v in front, with ruffles along the edge, and an open zipper in back. Cynthia Steffe is one of my new favorite designers. She really makes dresses for women who have curves, which is a nice change.

Shoes: Brown wedges with gold trim from BCBGMAXAZRIA
Purse: Red patent leather from Nine West - It was inexpensive, but I get a ton of compliments on it!

Aug 16, 2010

Since I love fashion so much, I thought I would start recording some of my outfits. I keep thinking about this Murphy Brown episode where Corky has to read from her diary. She would record her outfit everyday, too... Anyway, since in ten years I probably won't remember all the clothes and shoes I loved so much, here goes...

Today I am wearing head to toe BCBGMAXAZRIA:
- blue/yellow dress that ties in front
- patent blue low-heeled shoes
- brown bag

This outfit is special because... I met author Jennifer Weiner wearing this outfit in 2009.
