In the Midnight Hour

It's another week in the Fashion Challenge, and I'm doing my best to try to make it last as long as possible. I even went to my alterations person this weekend to drop off a bunch of items, but it's going to be at least ten days before I get everything back. I'm going to try to make it until then, so I will be pulling out all sorts of random outfits over the next week or so.

Day 152 in Robert Rodriguez

Today, for example, I'm in a ruched dress from Robert Rodriguez that I normally would wear out on the weekends rather than to work. The color of the dress is described as a "deep purple," but it looks more like a midnight blue to me. The belt is black, so I paired it with black suede t-strap pumps from Modern Vintage.

I loved ruched dresses, like this one on Bluefly.com, because the ruched detailing tends to hide flaws in the hips and legs. If you want a form fitting dress, but are self-conscious about those areas, opt for one that has a lot of detail and extra material down the sides. It will do wonders for you.

Speaking of miracle working dresses, Chapin and I went to Lenox Mall this weekend to check out the new Herve Leger by Max Azria store. These bandage dresses are very expensive, and are often seen on celebrities like Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively and others. They are expensive for a good reason, though: These dresses definitely work your assets and make you look your best. I had fun trying on a bunch of dresses in the store, but when it came down to it, I couldn't fork over that much money for one single garment of clothing. Maybe when I win the lottery...
