Night Sky

Today's dress is one I coveted for a long time before finally giving in and buying. I just love it! The sillhoutte is nothing new, but the sparkle and navy/silver color combination had me at hello!

The pattern is actually comprised of mini dots and stars -- the perfect night sky -- and the dress moves so well when I walk. It's visually so beautiful, so if you're looking to splurge on something new -- I recommend this Kate Spade dress, which is still available.

Pink Is My Signature Color

OK, so pink is not really my signature color, but I can't help thinking of that line from Steel Magnolias, since pink was definitely the color of the moment at the 91st Academy Awards last night. There were all different hues, but everyone from Helen Mirren to Jason Momoa to Julia Roberts herself turned up in pink.

Other notable colors of the night included black and metallic, but I've been partial to color (of late), so I'm honoring the trend today by wearing pink myself in the form of this mini dress from Black Halo.

In addition to the color, what I love about this dress is the structure of the over-sized sleeves. I think they are just amazing. I'm such a sucker for a structured sleeve.

I stayed up too late watching the Oscars... and didn't even make it to the end of the show! At least I saw the moment that counted: that amazing performance by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. I still haven't seen the movie -- I'm behind on movie watching due to the plethora of good TV -- but I've had this song stuck in my head since last night. I plan to watch A Star Is Born... and soon.

Olive for Fashion

The weather here in Atlanta continues to seesaw -- warm one day and cold the next -- so I'm wearing my winter dresses while I can!

I love the bold olive color of this body con dress, and the little details, like the chains running up the sleeves, help it stand out. It's really very flattering on the body and helps show off your curves.

These shoes are actually gold and black striped, and I love them with the dress. They really complement the olive color and bring the whole outfit together.

Uniform Sensibility

When I see a dress with a little collar, I just have to have it! Case in point -- This navy Black Halo fit and flare dress.

The fact that it has long sleeves was just an added bonus! I'm worried it looks a little like a school uniform, but I still love it.

Be My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm not big on celebrating Hallmark holidays, but it's nice to have a day that's all about love. When we were first married, Chapin and I made a pact to only go out to dinner every other Valentine's Day, but now we usually just keep things low-key at home. Chapin is making me dinner tonight, and we exchanged gifts last night.

Chapin bought me a pair of beautiful Adina Reyter earrings as a Valentine gift. I have been drooling over these "Three Amigos" earrings ever since I saw them on Meghan Markle! (Mine are white gold, while I think Meghan's are in yellow gold.)

The earrings are so delicate and will go with everything! Plus, the fact that there are three stones reminds me of me and my sisters (my best friends in the world). Check out my Instagram to see a close-up look at the earrings!

Dress: Trina Turk Knightly Floral Printed Dress

The dress overall is so feminine, but I do wish the sleeves were a bit shorter. I don't know if sleeves that hang almost to the elbow are flattering on anyone!

Supermodel Niki Taylor was seen wearing the dress to a recent Maybelline event.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Romance Is In the Air

Valentine's Day is this Thursday, so I figured I would start my parade of red and pink outfits with this dress from Alice + Olivia.

Outfit Details

Dress: Alice + Olivia Angelita Striped Ruffle Asymmetric Midi Dress

The dress is flirty and fun, and the perfect Valentine's Day dress with its red, pink and nude pattern. It moves beautifully when I walk, and the little cap sleeves show of the arms and shoulders and make the dress seem extra feminine.

You can find the dress at Saks and Bergdorf Goodman. There are only limited sizes available, though.

You may be wondering why I didn't wait to wear the dress on Valentine's Day! Well, it was around 70 degrees in Atlanta today, but the temperature is supposed to drop tomorrow, so I wanted to wear the dress while the weather was still so mild. It's been such a weird winter.

Shoes: Jimmy Choo Lang Sandals in Flame

I debated whether to wear pink, red or nude sandals, but finally ended up in these Jimmy Choos. Any of those colors would have worked, though!

Maje for Me

Today I'm wearing my first dress from Maje, a French brand that describes its overall aesthetic as "feminine, understated, glamorous and bold." Is that me? Maybe. But -- regardless -- I fell in love with this dress and had to have it!

Outfit Details

Dress: Maje Fit and Flare Skater Dress

The dress has long sleeves, a hugely flared skirt and a compelling print. It makes me feel so good when I wear it! I don't go to special events where I need to dress up, so I dress up for work. It's become a part of who I am. I'm perpetually overdressed but always in style.

Shoes: Jimmy Choo Atlas Patent Leather Crisscross Sandals (no longer available)

Weekend Update!

I met the author Soniah Kamal on Saturday morning, and the rest of the weekend was very relaxing. Chapin and I continue to be obsessed with The Great British Bake-Off (#GBBO) and have started the new season of True Detective as well!

Here are a few photos from the author meet and greet. I look exhausted because I had to get up really early to get a workout in before going out to Johns Creek!

Puff to It

Are puffed sleeves the new shoulder pads? Today's dress features a very nice puffed sleeve -- not a cap sleeve or small puff, but a good bouffant sitting right on my shoulder. It's a little daring... but I love it!

Outfit Details:

Dress: Rebecca Taylor Metallic Ruched Jersey Dress

The dress is extremely comfortable, as most jersey dresses are, and is made well. The dress is lined, so while the metallic fabric looks scratchy -- it's not. It feels super light and I only wish I had ordered one size smaller. The dress, a size small, is a little big on me. Size down if you're considering buying it. I definitely should have ordered the extra small.

Find the dress on the Rebecca Taylor website, as well as Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's and Saks. It's on sale, so now is the time to buy if your size is in stock.

If you like this style, but don't want a dress, check out the top!

Shoes: Manolo Blahnik Chaos Metallic Mesh Ankle Strap Sandals

I'm excited that today is Friday and the weekend is on the horizon. Tonight, Chapin is making pizza for dinner using gluten-free dough we ordered from Williams Sonoma. I can't even remember the last time I had decent pizza, and I want to find out if this gluten-free dough tastes any good. (It sure cost enough!) Pizza and bread are the two things I miss most since my Celiac diagnosis.

Tomorrow morning, my mother and I are also going to hear an author, Soniah Kamal, speak at a local library in Alpharetta. Kamal lives in Georgia and is the author of Unmarriageable: A Novel, billed as "Pride and Prejudice in Pakistan." I love hearing authors speak about their experiences getting published. It's still my dream to write my own work of fiction one day...

Denim Days

Denim isn't always the easiest fabric to wear. It's not very flexible, so you don't often see it in dress form. This DVF dress, however, is denim, daring and fabulous.

Outfit Details

Dress: Diane von Furstenberg D-Ring Denim Belted Fit and Flare Dress (sold out)

The overall cut is very figure flattering, and the added belt helps showcase your curves. Plus, it has pockets!

You will also notice the vertical stitching. It draws the eye and helps elongate your frame, making you look taller and thinner. I love that every stitch is deliberate, with a purpose in mind to help the wearer look her best.

Shoes: Valentino Rockstud Crisscross d'Orsay Pumps

I still am so in love with these shoes. Gold + Valentino + Studs = A Shoe Addict's Dream Come True!

As Seen on TV!

Jane, on Jane the Virgin, wore the dress in green last season!

The Return of Carrie Bradshaw

It's amazing how the weather has changed in less than a week! Today -- and for the next few days -- we are going to see highs in the 70s... in February! I'll take it! I much prefer this mild weather to dealing with snow, ice and cold temperatures.

Outfit Details

Today's dress is one I had my eye on awhile before it finally went on sale. Isn't it beautiful? I love all the floral embroidery, and the silhouette is so flattering.

Dress: Belle Badgley Mischka Floral Embroidered Trimmed Cocktail Dress

You can find the Belle Badgley Mischka line at Saks Off 5th, Dillard's, Lord & Taylor and other retailers.

Shoes: SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Queen Sandals

Speaking of SJP, her commercial for Stella Artois was probably my favorite commercial in the 2019 Super Bowl (which Atlanta hosted last night). I wish I could say pass me a Stella, but the beer isn't gluten free... yet.

And yes, she still looks fabulous at 53!
