Wardrobe Fun

Today's dress is one I would describe as casual, fun... and a little flirty. What I love most about this dress is the combination of colors. I love how all these different hues -- blues, pinks and even some silver and gold -- match up perfectly with a day in March that's a little bit cool, a little bit warm, and definitely beautiful.

Spring Flowers

Spring is here! We had a beautiful weekend here in Atlanta, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s. I love this mild weather, even though my car is already covered in green pollen! Oh my allergies!

Today's dress is one I saw and instantly had to own! How could I resist a blue floral lace sheath dress?

In other news...

  • Chapin and I are both loving our new Peloton bike. I'm very competitive, so the way Peloton ranks you against other people who have taken each class really gets me to work harder. Chapin continues to be impressed with how fit I am, but I've been working out steadily for almost 20 years, so I hope I'm in decent shape. ;)
  • Are you watching the TBS Original Miracle Workers? Highly recommend!
  • Support local bookstores! I visited Johns Creek Books and Gifts over the weekend, where I picked up Finding Dorothy and Daisy Jones & The Six in hardback. Sometimes it's nice to have actual books to read. Yes, I paid more than I would have on Amazon, but I like giving back to the local community where I grew up.
  • I'm counting down the days until Avengers: Endgame comes out. I've seen Infinity War more than 25 times, probably. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Chapin can't get over how obsessed I've become with a Marvel movie. Check out the latest trailer below!

Heart of the Matter

I just adore dresses with whimsical prints, so I was immediately drawn to this long-sleeve Parker dress featuring a hand-drawn heart pattern. It was like something out of Project Runway! Plus, the collar, keyhole and overall design make the dress a very chic addition to my wardrobe.

It's a windy and cool day in Atlanta, so I was glad to have the opportunity to wear this long-sleeve dress before it gets too warm.

March in Atlanta is so unpredictable... in the 70s one day, and the 40s the next! Welcome to the South, I guess!

A Case of the Mondays

Happy Monday! I had such a great weekend, so it was hard to come back to work today, especially since I am still adjusting to the time change.

Today's Outfit Details

Dress: Adrianna Papell Pleated Plaid Lace V-Neck Fit and Flare Dress

I bought the dress during the last Dillard's clearance sale, so I got a great deal on it. It's sold out on Dillards.com, but you can still find it at Amazon. I was worried the dress looked too much like one I already own, but since it was so cheap, I decided to go for it. It's funny I wore this other dress almost three years ago to the day!

The fit is a little off with this dress. I'm wearing a size 2, but the top is huge on me, and gapes everywhere. I might need to get it altered; it's such a cute dress, so I definitely want to wear it again.

Weekend Highlights

  • Our new Peloton bike was delivered! Chapin has worked out every single day since we got it! I'm so proud of him.
  • Chapin and I had fun date night on Saturday, going to AIX, a new local French restaurant, and then a comedy show at Laughing Skull Lounge, where we saw The Lucas Brothers.
  • While we were dining at AIX, Joel McHale came in! I loved his show, Community, so much. I didn't get to talk to him, but I snapped this picture.
What a weekend!

Shift

This week has seemed endless. It feels like it should be Friday -- but it's only Thursday! The weekend can't come fast enough!

Today's dress is a beautiful lace creation from the Shoshanna brand. While I don't love shift dresses, I got a great deal on this one, so I couldn't resist.

Outfit Details

Dress: Shoshanna Blue Lace Shift Dress

Shift dresses tend to make me look very boxy and widen my frame, so I don't buy them often. I have hips, and shift dresses don't really give you any shape, which results in a very square silhouette. The design here is smart, though; the eye is drawn upwards to the v-neck and lovely lace detail that you can see at the shoulders. I love the beautiful blue color, too. You just can't go wrong in blue.

Shoes: Jimmy Choo Luna 100 Glitter Peep-Toe Pumps

I'm excited for this weekend, because not only can I catch up on some sleep, but our new home exercise bike will be arriving from Peloton! I can't wait to try it out!

Velvet Allure

Black Halo created a velvet dress with ruched sleeves... of course I had to buy it!

Velvet and ornate sleeves are extremely trendy this season, so seeing the two combined in one dress makes for a very fashionable outfit.

Outfit Details

Also available in burgundy!

The biggest drawback of velvet is that it tends to show every wrinkle and flaw, but this dress is fully lined, so I took the risk. I liked that it had long sleeves, too, although it's already feeling more like spring than winter here in Atlanta.

Shoes: Tamara Mellon Frontline 105 High Heel Sandals

With a little black dress, anything goes when it comes to footwear, but I wanted to offset the heaviness of the dress with a pair of sandals. These Tamara Mellon heels and their partly clear straps really help elongate the leg, too!

Metallic

I'm so off my game today, and will most likely be bleary eyed the rest of the week. Why? Daylight Saving Time! It's become one of the most dreaded days of the year for me, and one that I hope ends soon! Apparently, it's one of the deadliest mornings on the road, and according to The New York Times, results in an increase in heart attacks and strokes, too.

Sleep is important, people!

ME THE MONDAY AFTER DAYLIGHT SAVING:

Since I'm so tired, I wanted an easy breezy dress to wear today, and I immediately thought of this Parker dress. I wasn't sure I would like the dress on my frame, but I absolutely adore it. The big, puffy sleeves are reminiscent of late Victorian era fashion, and the metallic hues and bohemian vibe combine to produce a modern, chic look. There aren't even zippers; you just put the dress on and go!

Dress: Parker Metallic Smocked A-Line Dress

The dress is still available at RueLaLa.com, so contact me if you want a personalized invitation to shop this online store. I find so many great deals here.

The Briana dress by Parker, available at Saks, is almost identical to the dress I'm wearing -- except for the ruffled skirt. Sometimes brands will make similar versions of their designs, and sell an "exclusive" look on one particular site. I wonder if that's what happened here!

Affordable Fashion From AQUA

It's almost the weekend, but not quite... Happy Thursday!

AQUA, an in-house brand at Bloomingdale's, is not only super affordable, but the designs are incredibly chic as well. Just remember that the craftsmanship isn't going to be of the highest quality; you get what you pay for, I guess!

For example, today's dress isn't lined, but since it's not a tight-fitting dress, I wasn't too upset over that detail. I only spent about $35 on the dress, and that's not bad for such a cute outfit.

Outfit Details

Dress: AQUA Floral Velvet Puff Sleeve Dress

I was drawn to this dress because of its high neck and puff sleeves, two features I love. Plus, it's velvet!

Velvet has definitely been a trend this winter, and I have several new velvet dresses in my closet already.

I've never bought an AQUA dress before, but the next time I see a cute design, I won't hesitate.

So Gucci

Today's dress reminds me of a Gucci dress that Lara Spencer wore on Good Morning America. As I can't afford Gucci, the dress is clearly from another brand: Kaimilan.

This red fit and flare dress is actually my first piece from Kaimilan, a brand I discovered on RueLaLa.com, still one of my favorite fashion bargain sites. The red is so vibrant, and I really like the black ribbon (with white stitching) that appears at the waist, sleeves and on the bow. It's just a really cute dress.

And it has pockets!

Amazon is selling the dress, but in an extra-large only. You can also find the Kaimilan brand on Zulily and StyleWe.com, a site I was not familiar with until today. Not too many sites carry this brand... yet.

Windblown

It's suddenly very windy and cold in Atlanta, so out come more long-sleeve dresses! I adore this black, gold and silver dress from Rebecca Taylor, although I'm not sure I chose the right shoes to wear with it. I was in a big rush to leave the house this morning, so I didn't really think things through like I normally do! Oh well...

The dress is so lightweight and delicate, and you can see in the windblown photo above that it flows really well when I walk.

In other news: RIP Luke Perry. I was so sad to hear of the actor's passing today. A certain zip code will never be the same...
