Unpredictable Print

The weather here has suddenly turned colder, which means I can finally wear my new long-sleeve velvet dress from Black Halo! I love the green, black and red leopard print, which is so unexpected!

Dress: Black Halo Briar Leopard Velvet Mini Dress

The sleeves are a little too baggy for my liking, but the design is very flattering for the most part. I do wish the skirt was a tad longer, though!

The dress is available in the leopard print at Saks and in a beautiful green color -- called "Wet Moss" -- at Bloomingdale's and on the Black Halo website.

ShoesJimmy Choo Lang Sandals in Flame

I chose these Jimmy Choo sandals to really bring out the red/orange color in the print. Black shoes would also work well.

I've had these sandals for years and have gotten so much use out of them -- and they still look great. Jimmy Choo is the best of the designer shoe brands, in my experience, and on the more comfortable side, too.

Shine On

This Rebecca Taylor dress is just gorgeous in person. You can't really tell from the photos, but the metallic threads shine and sparkle, catching the eye -- and the fluorescent lights in the office -- so that you truly stand out.

My shoulders are small, so wrap dresses don't normally work on me, but I would call this dress a "pseudo" wrap dress. You can't wrap or unwrap it, so it stays fixed in place. There's a zipper and several small snap enclosures going up the left side. I never worried that my bra was showing or that the dress was moving around; it's construction is just right!

Dress: Rebecca Taylor Ribbon Lurex Jacquard Ruffle Dress

I have been loving the designs coming out of Rebecca Taylor lately. The dresses are chic and professional and just so appealing. Although expensive at full price, you can find great deals if you are patient. This dress retails for $595 -- but I definitely didn't pay that. I got this dress for around 85% off.

The dress is on sale, though you will pay more than I did. Buy it on the Rebecca Taylor website or at Bloomingdale'sRevolve or Saks. I'm wearing a size 2 for reference, though I really should be in a size 0. Rebecca Taylor sizing is running way big lately!

Shoes: SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Witness Dress Pumps (no longer available)

I think black or silver shoes would work best with the dress. Many of my shoes are already packed up, so my options right now are more limited. We will be moving in less than a month! I am sad to leave our little house in West Midtown, but excited at all there is to come.

Change is good, but it's hard -- especially for me. I get stuck in my routines and don't like to deviate from the norm. But without change, we miss out on so much. I just need to remember that in the coming weeks.

If you have any advice about moving, leave a comment. I love hearing from my small collection of readers.

Bohemian Winter Floral

Today's Shoshanna design has a more bohemian vibe than most of the dresses in my closet. It's effortless and chic - the perfect combination!

The photo doesn't do the floral print justice; it's so beautiful, with different hues of blue, green and pink bringing the flowers to life, plus metallic gold threads woven throughout out. It's comfortable, too, and a good choice for an overcast day at the office.

Find it at Neiman Marcus, Saks and ShopBop.

Shoes: Jimmy Choo Hesper 85 Mirror Leather Sandals (no longer available)

I wanted gold shoes to help bring out the gold undertones and threads in the dress. Did I succeed?

Update - A week after I wore this dress, Amy Robach wore the same dress on Good Morning America (February 27, 2020)!

Winter Pastel Dress

This Rebecca Taylor dress is the perfect example of how pastel colors can still work during the winter. The pastel blue compliments the leopard design for a wholly unique print, and the ruffles and long silhouette work to create a truly chic look. I just love it!

Shoes: Jimmy Choo Emily Crisscross Platform Sandals in Ballet Pink Metallic

I couldn't find these exact shoes online, but the Emily style is still available in different colors at a variety of retailers like Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's.

You could really wear just about any shoe (or boot) with this dress. I wanted something neutral to let the dress shine as the star of the outfit.

Kelly Ripa is a fan of this dress. She's worn it twice on her morning show. Watch the January 20, 2020, episode here.

Chapin and I had a fairly relaxing weekend, considering all that we have going on with our upcoming move. I finished two books (Grace After Henry and The Giver of Stars), successfully helped Chapin with the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, made a batch of gluten-free Snickerdoodles, visited my parents, and finally watched the cute Netflix movie, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. I also tried to sleep as much as possible, as I have been missing a lot of sleep lately due to stress and a busier than normal schedule.

We had several showings on Saturday, so I was even able to get some work in! All in all, it was a great weekend.

Valentine's Day 2020

Happy Valentine's Day! Chapin and I are keeping the holiday very low-key this year, since we will soon be buying a new house!

This year marks the 20th Valentine's Day we have spent together, and it's amazing to look back at all those years and how we have grown as a couple. From our first Valentine's Day, spent at Dante's Down the Hatch enjoying fondue, to today, when we will probably snuggle on the couch together with our three pugs, it has been such a joyous ride. We will soon be starting a new chapter in a new home and I'm so excited at all there is to come.

Dress: Milly Engineered Rib Flare Dress

Of course I'm wearing red for Valentine's Day today. The warm ribbed design and flattering neckline made it a perfect choice for the holiday.

Find the dress (on sale) at Milly.com and Neiman Marcus. Here is a link to a similar dress (with scalloped edges) available at Saks.

Staying Positive

The last week has been a trying time for me. I'm trying to stay positive and look ahead to good things, but it's been so difficult. I have really been leaning on the people close to me for support, encouragement and advice, and they have helped so much. Thank you, dear sisters and friends. You know who you are!

Between the weather and my crazy schedule, I just haven't had time to do many fashion posts lately; I'm trying to make sure I get a few in this week, though. I've been dying to wear this adorable sweater dress from Ted Baker London, and the weather today (chilly and rainy) definitely warranted something cozy.

DressTed Baker London Nilar Check Skater Dress

The dress is super comfortable, though I feel I will never fully understand Ted Baker (British) sizing. I'm either a 1 or 2 in this brand, and it's not consistent based on the style or silhouette. Unfortunately, I chose poorly when deciding to buy the size 2 for this dress; it's a little big on me, especially in the shoulders. My advice: If you can, try a Ted Baker piece on before you buy it!

Shoes: Alexandre Birman Ellie Metallic Snakeskin & Suede Ankle-Strap Stiletto Sandals

Only select sizes are available in the black and gold on Revolve, but you can also find them in black and a python print on the Alexandre Birman website. I think they are just fabulous. The heel is also not too high, making them perfect for work.

Did you watch the Oscars last night? I haven't seen like any new movies this year, so in addition to watching for Brad Pitt, I also always love watching for the fashion. I am torn about my favorite dress this year, but I'm leaning toward Janelle Monáe in Ralph Lauren. I love the risk she took with the head piece, the beautiful diamond necklace and all the sparkle. I also think it's incredible when you can look beautiful and sexy and be so covered up!

Sparkle was definitely the theme of the night - a trend I absolutely love. There were also a lot of metallic dresses as well as some pale pink.

Brie Larson kind of combined several trends with her Celine dress, and I adore any dress with a cape.

Unfortunately, with my coloring, I can't really pull off this shade of pink. It always seems to wash me out.

White was also a trend. My other favorites from the night were both in this tricky hue: Renée Zellweger in Armani Privé and Cynthia Erivo in Atelier Versace, one of the night's sexiest dresses in my opinion. White shows every flaw, but these ladies are flawless!
