Staying Positive

The last week has been a trying time for me. I'm trying to stay positive and look ahead to good things, but it's been so difficult. I have really been leaning on the people close to me for support, encouragement and advice, and they have helped so much. Thank you, dear sisters and friends. You know who you are!

Between the weather and my crazy schedule, I just haven't had time to do many fashion posts lately; I'm trying to make sure I get a few in this week, though. I've been dying to wear this adorable sweater dress from Ted Baker London, and the weather today (chilly and rainy) definitely warranted something cozy.

The dress is super comfortable, though I feel I will never fully understand Ted Baker (British) sizing. I'm either a 1 or 2 in this brand, and it's not consistent based on the style or silhouette. Unfortunately, I chose poorly when deciding to buy the size 2 for this dress; it's a little big on me, especially in the shoulders. My advice: If you can, try a Ted Baker piece on before you buy it!

Shoes: Alexandre Birman Ellie Metallic Snakeskin & Suede Ankle-Strap Stiletto Sandals

Only select sizes are available in the black and gold on Revolve, but you can also find them in black and a python print on the Alexandre Birman website. I think they are just fabulous. The heel is also not too high, making them perfect for work.

Did you watch the Oscars last night? I haven't seen like any new movies this year, so in addition to watching for Brad Pitt, I also always love watching for the fashion. I am torn about my favorite dress this year, but I'm leaning toward Janelle Monáe in Ralph Lauren. I love the risk she took with the head piece, the beautiful diamond necklace and all the sparkle. I also think it's incredible when you can look beautiful and sexy and be so covered up!

Sparkle was definitely the theme of the night - a trend I absolutely love. There were also a lot of metallic dresses as well as some pale pink.

Brie Larson kind of combined several trends with her Celine dress, and I adore any dress with a cape.

Unfortunately, with my coloring, I can't really pull off this shade of pink. It always seems to wash me out.

White was also a trend. My other favorites from the night were both in this tricky hue: Renée Zellweger in Armani Privé and Cynthia Erivo in Atelier Versace, one of the night's sexiest dresses in my opinion. White shows every flaw, but these ladies are flawless!
