Long Sleeves in August

I'm comfy cozy in today's high neck jersey dress from Rebecca Taylor.

Outfit Details

Dress: Rebecca Taylor Long Sleeve Twilight Bloom Jersey Dress

This dress is so comfortable! If I didn't have pug hair to worry about, I'd probably wear it even when working from home. The jersey material is soft against my skin, and the silhouette is chic and flattering.

Find the dress on the Rebecca Taylor website and at ShopBop

I know it seems strange to wear long sleeves in 90-degree weather, but with air conditioning making the office around 72 degrees, a dress with long sleeves is actually ideal. Yes, I've been back working in the office most days since June 1st. The majority of the marketing team is still remote, but I'm here with about four other colleagues. We're pretty spread out, so it works in this new age of COVID. Will team meetings ever be the same? Thank goodness for Zoom and Google Hangouts!

Shoes: Malone Souliers Jenna 70mm Bow-Appliqué Mules

I really debated the right shoes to wear with this dress. Ultimately, I decided on these cherry red mules from Malone Souliers. The colors don't match up exactly, but I like how the shoes help bring out the reddish undertones in the dress. A neutral beige or soft pink shoe would have worked as well, but I wanted to change it up and do something different today. Did I choose wisely?

Celebration

Chapin and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this past weekend with a wonderful dinner out.

Where: Lusca

What We Ate:
  • Chopped Brussels Sprouts Salad (to start)
  • Pumpkin Swordfish (for me)
  • Charred Octopus (for Chapin)
  • Side of Roasted Okra with Curry Sauce (to share)
We skipped dessert, even though we adore dessert, since there was no chocolate option on the menu. We did enjoy a wonderful bottle of wine with our meal, though: Morgon. We are looking into getting regular shipments!

My Outfit Details:
  • Dress: Rebecca Taylor Lace Bustier Dress
  • Shoes: B Brian Atwood
Chapin's Outfit Details:
  • Shirt: Hugo Boss
Fun Fact: I curled my hair for the occasion, but I am inept with a curling iron and even a curling wand. I used my old Lock 'n Roll set that I've had since I was twelve.

Celebrity Sighting!
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg (little sister Dawn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) wore the dress to an event a few years ago.

Wine With That?

The new hot Fall color is apparently "wine" (also known as Bordeaux or maroon). Fortunately, I have several dresses in that color, like this one from designer Rebecca Taylor.

Dress: Rebecca Taylor Bordeaux and Black Colorblocked Dress

The dress is on clearance at Bluefly for a great price! It's also available at SaksOff5th.com in just a few sizes.

Shoes: L.A.M.B. Glance Wool Booties (no longer available)
