Red Warrior

I'm gearing up for a busy week, so I thought I would start things off in a bold color. Red is such an attention-grabbing hue, and when it's paired with a unique silhouette, it makes for such a memorable ensemble.

I wasn't feeling that great this past weekend -- the changing weather, going from temperatures in the 90s to the 40s, makes my head hurt with the pressure -- so I tried to rest and relax as much as possible. Sometimes you need that downtime to be at your best!

Our fridge died, so one of the highlights of my weekend was picking out a new one. It was delivered today!

I also hit a new PR (personal record) on the Peloton bike for a 45-minute ride. I have been loving the Tabata rides from Robin Arzon. She really gets my heart rate up.

I really feel like I get more out of the bike than any other cardio machine. I've been working out consistently for almost 20 years now, so at this point, I'm fairly fit. I have a slow heart rate, and it takes a lot to wear me out. Even running... I definitely don't burn as many calories in the same time frame. If you want to switch up your workout routine, I definitely recommend this bike.

Party Everyday

I know today's dress is a bit fancy for work, but I just recently purchased this dress from Rue La La, and couldn't wait to wear it! Isn't it gorgeous? It looks more like a party dress, but when you work as much as I do, you have to make everyday a party... right?

At Least I'm Consistent

I definitely have an affinity for certain types of dresses, and dresses with a cute little Peter Pan collar are a particular weakness of mine.

Mondays are always crazy busy for me, so this dress appealed to me today because it's so easy to wear. I don't need a strapless bra or Spanx, and since it's black and white, it will look good with just about any pair of shoes.

Cutting Out

When it comes to cutouts, placement is critical. The cutout needs to add "value" in some way, maybe showing a little skin to help elevate a dress (or other item of clothing) into a sexier stratosphere. 

The cutout on this structural green dress from Halston Heritage is very intentional. While keeping with the overall architectural design of the dress, the asymmetrical cutout allows a little cleavage to show through. Combined with the color, it helps this seemingly normal fit and flare dress really stand out. (The color is even more bold and beautiful in person.)

It's hard to tell form the photo, but the buds on the shoes have a green center that perfectly matches the green of the dress!

Dark Side of the Moon

Should today be re-named Solar Eclipse Day? It's going to be difficult getting through the afternoon with all the excitement and distractions related to the solar eclipse. We are having a little party at the office, complete with moon pies and Blue Moon beer.

I wore black today as a reference to the solar eclipse. This event is such a rarity, you can't help but celebrate it.

Dress: Halston Heritage Cap Sleeve Notched Neck Silk Faille Dress

I absolutely love this dress. It fits in all the right places, and the cap sleeves and fit-and-flare design are so slimming. Remember to size down in Halston Heritage; I'm wearing a size two for reference.

I will add that it might look like the dress has pockets -- but it doesn't. That is my one negative comment, because this dress would be just so perfect with pockets!

I'm so in love with these new Jimmy Choos, which I just nabbed on sale from Bergdorf Goodman. It was my first time ordering from the site -- or buying anything from this store, for that matter. I'll definitely be back if I continue to see items like Jimmy Choo shoes on sale. Apparently, this style is exclusive to the store, too.
