Groovy Kind of Love

Today I look extremely exhausted, which is a combination of staying up too late, drinking Merlot and not enough water, and skipping my morning workout. Oh well! I am so glad it's Friday and that I can sleep in tomorrow.

I am wearing blue today, since I absolutely love this color, and this Chequer dress is extremely comfortable. I remember buying this dress in the store, and since Chequer is an internal brand at Bloomingdale's, not all of their designs end up showing up on the website. The point is: sometimes you just need to go shopping at an actual retail store! Although I do about 85% of my shopping online, occasionally I will go to a mall or outlet.

I am also wearing my L.A.M.B. Women's Darek Cross Stitch Sandals. These shoes are fabulous, but have four-inch heels, and so they are not that comfortable. At least they look great, right?

You've Got a Friend

Chapin and I had a wonderful evening last night visiting with our friend, Rahul, and his girlfriend, Vinnie. Rahul and Chapin have been friends for almost 15 years now, and he was one of Chapin's groomsmen when we got married.
I also consider Rahul a good friend. He is such a kind, caring, intelligent, generous individual, and you can always depend on him. He even watched Izzie for us when we needed someone to help out. Rahul is always a person you want on your side, and I am honored to call him my friend after all these years.

Our dinner reservations were at a restaurant called Craft in Buckhead. Rahul was the only person at our table who had eaten there before, and he swears by their steaks. As many people know, I no longer eat cow, pig or lamp, so I opted for the Red Snapper, while Chapin had the duck. I honestly wish I had ordered the duck, because it was so delicious!

The dinner conversation was fun and friendly, and we enjoyed getting to know Vinnie, who is awesome! Dessert was pretty good, too. I enjoyed the Toasted Pecan ice cream, while Chapin had the Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Roulade.

As we were leaving, we had a funny encounter with one of the valets. We stood outside for maybe five minutes before a valet even showed up, and when he did, he swore up and down that Chapin had been there "waaaaaay" before Rahul, even though Rahul actually walked outside first. It was so random it made us laugh. Maybe you had to be there.

Here is one of my favorite pictures of Rahul and Chapin, from our wedding in 2003. They always laugh when they're together.

I also can't forget to mention my outfit: I am wearing the Black Halo Kimberly Satin dress, which has been seen on celebrities like Olivia Munn. I am also wearing my BCBGMaxAzria Two-Toned Sequin Pumps that Chapin bought me in San Francisco.

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me

I have a very busy day ahead of me, so unfortunately I won't have too much time to blog today. I am very excited that Thanksgiving is exactly one week from today. Work has been so crazy for both me and Chapin that we could use a nice break, not to mention all the good eats that await. Turkey and stuffing is one of my very favorite meals.

Anway, I am wearing the Trina Turk Belted Kiss 2 Dress with black tights and black patent leather shoes from BCBGMaxAzria. This dress is comfortable and definitely emphasizes a small waist. Although the back is a bit open, it is still very professional looking. As I have meetings and interviews today - we are hiring! - I needed something that I'd feel good in all day long. I can't wait for Friday!

Dynamite

I'm in a great mood today, perhaps because I got a good night sleep. I wasn't feeling too great last night - I was having a bad time with my allergies, complete with sneezing, itchy/ watery eyes and a constant runny nose - so I think it was around 10 p.m. exactly when I fell asleep.

Anyway, I am feeling good today and ready to start the day. I am also wearing one of my favorite dresses: the "Sarah" dress from French Connection. This dress was a great deal and has also been seen on a few celebrities like Shawn Johnson and in TV shows like Cougar Town and Entourage. I love the vivid blue color and the cut is great for emphasizing those womanly curves.

I paired the dress today with my black L.A.M.B. Quincy d'Orsay Pumps and, of course, my Michele bag! I think these shoes are fabulous, though they are a bit high. I wouldn't recommend too much walking around in them.

As for my makeup, I really did my eyes up dramatically, and went light on the lipstick. I love NARS eyeshadows, and today I used the graphite shade from my NARS Eurydice Eyeshadow Duo.

Black Magic Woman

I'm not sure why I decided to go all black today, but here I am in a black dress, black tights and black shoes. It's probably a little too much black with no color to break it up, but since I've already started my day, I guess it's too late to go back now...

The dress today is one that I'm not completely in love with, although it is by one of my favorite designers: Cynthia Steffe. I think this dress was meant to be worn by someone with a larger upper body, as the ruffles overwhelm me a bit.

You also can't see it in the picture, but the left side of the dress has a gold zipper running up its length. This makes it difficult for the dress to lay correctly at any time, so that's another frustrating detail... which may be why I don't wear this dress too often. However, I am pulling out everything for the Fashion Challenge. Today is Day #61! So far I have worn 60 dresses and one suit.

The official name of this dress is the Cynthia Steffe Sleeveless Ruffled Cotton Eyelet Dress. I could only find it online in a size zero at Lord and Taylor, but who knows - you could see it on Smart Bargains or Bluefly in a few months.

The shoes today are just my Charles by Charles David peep toe pumps that I've had for years. I'm exhausted today and it's only Tuesday! I can't wait for Thanksgiving!

And Then You

The week is off to a rainy start, and Chapin and George got soaked at the end of their walk this morning. Today will probably also be the last day this week where a coat will be optional. I will miss the gorgeous, sunny, 70-degree weather we've been experiencing lately.

My outfit today is one I call my "black and blue dress": BCBGMaxAzria's Color-Blocked Ponte Dress that you can purchase now on the BCBG.com website. This style is probably my favorite, as I find it to be very flattering on all types of figures.

You may have noticed that I have several ponte dresses from designers like BCBG, Cynthia Steffe and Shoshanna. They are also great to wear to work because they are both chic, professional and comfortable.

I don't own any booties, so I opted for my Betsey Johnson mesh pumps with rose detailing. They are high - about five inches, I think - but I love them. I think Carrie Bradshaw would understand...

Shout

As planned, Chapin and I had a low-key weekend. Although I had been debating making the four-hour drive to see my sister in Nashville, my parents decided to go instead, and asked us to stay at the house in Alpharetta to take care of my grandfather for the weekend. As city folks, there are two main things that affect us when we're out in the suburbs:

First, George isn't used to all the suburb sounds. Every time a bird chirps, or he sees a jogger or other dog passing outside, he starts barking away. He is more used to zooming cars and police sirens! You have to remember that he has lived in our city loft since he was a just wee pup. It's hard to believe he turns six years old this December.
Second, my ears ring! I am just not used to all that silence.

Anyway, we ended up having a very nice weekend. Auburn beat UGA in a very stressful game, we enjoyed Thai/Chinese food from Lon U with my Grandpa, and we came home early enough on Sunday that we still caught a movie - albeit a bad one (Due Date). Here's to relaxing weekends...
